birthday flowers
I got this beautiful bunch of flowers from my mum. September is the month of birthdays and today is my own. Yesterday, I had a very good evening and today was just calm and cozy. We slept in, had a delicious brunch, took a walk and ordered sushi.

Oh, watch this advert (via Famapa).

Thank you for all your comments these past days & happy weekend!

Last week, the mailman dropped off a beautifully designed magazine. Good work, Nina!

Two bunches of roses were another surprise I got last week. I spotted them behind the supermarket cashdesk and they were meant to be thrown away. They quickly made my living room feel so chic :)

Another reason why I love late summer. I picked up two nice squashs at this field the weekend before, one hokkaido and one pattypan. I used them for making a lasagne and a strudel, awesome!

It's always nice to spend weekends in the countryside. These pictures were taken one week ago. I love this season.

It was fun reading your little stories after asking you a question in the last post, thanks! Today, I want to share one of my favorite songs with you. Don't look down, enjoy!

mycology
I just thought about last weekend. We took another long walk in the forest, met horses and goats and finally went on a mushroom foray. We found two hands full of chanterelles and ate them the same evening on a crisp walnut bread - sautéed in butter, with thyme, salt and pepper. Later, Stephan's dad gave us a quick mycology lesson over a glass of white wine.

When I was a child, I didn't eat mushrooms at all. How could I? I'm sure that my tastes have changed a lot through the years. But I still don't like raisins, I pick them all out of cereal and cake. How about you? Do you now like a food you refused to eat as a child?

We spent the last weekend in the countryside and took long walks in the forest. We watched a hunting cat, found fly agaric and anthills (you can see one in the second picture) and ate blueberries.

Thanks for your answers on my last post, it was fun to read about movies you like. I hope your weekend will be great, mine will be restful!

The entrance door stood open, so I slipped into this old building. The backyard turned out to be a small paradise.

After finishing Twin Peaks, we found a new series that is really worth seeing: Bored to Death. Which movies or series did you watch lately?

Some details I discovered in the 8th district.

The blue sky will be back today and I can't wait to see it. The last days were nevertheless good ones, and the cold and rainy weather wasn't bad at all - I enjoyed the smell of fall. Veronika and I saw Seabear in concert, Monika and I met and had a cup of coffee, and Philipp and I went out to a charming place called Aromat which always reminds me of NYC.

Enjoy your Thursday!

As you already know, I'm passionate about bread. This is kind of an ad, but I have to introduce you to this wonderful wood fired organic bakery that opened recently in town. The tiny shop is located in a small street and you'd probably walk past it without blinking. The baker obviously learned from ancient baking traditions, the bread tastes just fantastic. The buns are best eaten plain...
