I just thought about last weekend. We took another long walk in the forest, met horses and goats and finally went on a mushroom foray. We found two hands full of chanterelles and ate them the same evening on a crisp walnut bread - sautéed in butter, with thyme, salt and pepper. Later, Stephan's dad gave us a quick mycology lesson over a glass of white wine.
When I was a child, I didn't eat mushrooms at all. How could I? I'm sure that my tastes have changed a lot through the years. But I still don't like raisins, I pick them all out of cereal and cake. How about you? Do you now like a food you refused to eat as a child?

I've been craving chanterelles. Here in Poland you can find them at the local market, I might have to go get some tomorrow!
I didn't like many vegetables as a child (spinach, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, and brussel sprouts were among the most loathed), but now I know that it was because my mom used to totally overcook them! Now I love them all!
I refused to eat cabbage rolls, 'golabki', which means 'small pidgeons', because I was convinced they were stuffed with pidgeon meat ;-)
Uh, I also remove the raisins from the muesli - even though I actually like raisins! They just don't belong in the muesli and neither does the rubber-like dried apples.. As a child I actually ate most as I wanted to be tougher than my brother who was really picky!
Fabulous mushrooms. I have always loved mushrooms. As a child I was very fussy. The two things I did not eat: bread and butter.
